As country president for Southern Africa, Eric Léger has executive responsibility for leading the development and execution of the company’s long term strategy, ensuring that effective internal controls and management information systems are in place, and that the organisation maintains high standards of corporate citizenship and social responsibility wherever it does business.
Eric is accustomed to managing a large entity, with his responsibilities covering inter alia commercial activities, supply chain, human resources, finance and legal control, quality and customer care, manufacturing and execution, sustainability, marketing and internal communications.
In this high profile position he is also responsible for the development and growth of Schneider Electric’s Southern African business, with his main focus being on the Angolan, Mozambican and Zambian markets, as well as a stand-alone business – Conlog – based in Durban.
Eric began his career at Schneider Electric at the organisation’s Indonesian branch in 1996, concentrating on international focused analysis, and forecasting economical and contractual risks as well as credit management for the business. From 1998 to 2000, he held a financial position within Schneider Electric’s low voltage business and, two years later, managed international sourcing, finance, logistics and MIS in the Philippines and China for the next three years. Between 2005 and 2008, he was the country manager for Sri Lanka and the Maldives, and prior to joining Schneider Electrics Southern African operation as country president he held the same post at Schneider Electric Korea and Schneider Electric Taiwan (since 2011) where he was responsible for business growth in both markets, introducing the EcoStruxure architecture to the region in order to help customers make energy safe, reliable, efficient, productive and green, from plant to plug.
French national Eric holds a diploma in finance from the Business School of Dijon.
