RBF Technology (Pty) Ltd. is a private South African BEE Company, which commenced trading in late 1979. It was established to service the electrical industry in the fields of design, manufacture and installation of electrical switchgear systems and control equipment. In 1998 the original owners sold RBF to Set Point Technology, a JSE-listed company. Then, in 2001, the MD Johan Basson, spearheaded a Management Buy-out (MB)) of RBF, and it reverted back to a privately-owned concern. Schneider Electric South Africa acquired RBF in 2007, in a drive to position themselves as a Solutions Provider in the South African market, with a manufacturing footprint here.
