As the Vice President of Energy in Southern Africa, Taru Madangombe is responsible for managing and leading the entire Energy team in the Utility, Intensive Energy Users and Mining segment, whilst driving the achievement of business targets for the Energy Business Unit for Southern Africa. His extended role involves providing input into the overall organizational business strategy. His focus is on rebuilding the relationship with new and existing customers and ensuring that Schneider’s energy business adapts to the rapidly transforming energy industry which is characterized by interconnectedness, digitization, technology automation and alignment to the internet of things.
Prior to joining Schneider in 2017, Taru’s background was in the engineering and consulting space where he held various technical and leadership roles in engineering & management consulting, project management, strategy and business development. He has spent more than 10 years working across various industries, including Utilities, Mining, Water, Renewable Energy, Petrochemicals and most recently in the Oil and Gas space.
Taru’s adept qualifications in both engineering and business management give him a well-rounded analytical perspective. He is a registered professional engineer with ECSA and he completed both his BSc (Elec) and MSc (Elec) in Engineering studies at the University of Cape Town, as well as a Project Management certification from the University of Pretoria. He also holds a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) with Gordon Institute of Business School (GIBS).
